Narrow defeat for juniors
On a windy and cool day, John O Gaunt sent 7 juniors over to Moor Park for the second leg in the first round of the Ver league, trying to build on our home advantage score of 4 1/2, to 2 1/2. The first team to 7 1/2 would progress.
Despite losing the first two matches, we picked up two quick wins to level the match, so just 1 point was required from the remaining 3 matches, unfortunately, we lost another which meant the remaining pairs on the course had to pick up two halves or a point. Despite a great fightback from Caitlin Thomas and Paul Smith with both matches going to the 18th we just couldn't get over the line against a very strong Moor Park junior team.
Some great experience was gained and some friends made in what overall was a very close competitive match, we now go into the Plate competition where we will look to go further than runners'-up this year.
